Bloodwalker - L.X. Cain

Lightning flashes. Another child disappears...

Zorka Circus’s big top roars with laughter and cheers, but when it moves on, children vanish.

Circus Security Chief Rurik suspects a killer hides among the performers, but they close ranks—they’ve always viewed lightning-scarred Rurik as the monster. He must find the culprit before anyone else disappears and his home is destroyed by the murders.

Into Zorka Circus comes the Skomori clan, despised as gravedigging ghouls. A one-day truce allows bloodwalker Sylvie to marry. Instead, she finds a body. Alerting others will defy her clan’s strict code, break the truce, and leave her an outcast.

When more bodies turn up, the killer's trail becomes impossible to ignore. Rurik and Sylvie must follow the clues—even if they lead to something unimaginable…

Dizzy in Durango - D.R. Ransdell

Dizzy in Durango An Andy Veracruz Mystery Missing women, abandoned children, and a crazy mariachi fan add up to further trouble for Andy Veracruz. After a fellow traveler disappears, he can’t concentrate on vacationing. Worse, he’s saddled with two children who aren’t his, an angry would-be girlfriend, and a self-appointed younger brother who is more reckless than he is. No wonder he starts seeing double!

No More Heroes - Roo I MacLeod

On the crime ridden streets of Old London Town the law has been subcontracted and justice awarded to the highest bidder. But from the dark depths of despair a hero is born.

A murder on the streets of Ostere isn’t headline news.
A vagrant running from conscription is common place.
But this vagrant knew the deceased and was witnessed fighting with the deceased.
So now the police want a word,
As do the killers.
Ben Jackman, slumbering vagrant by day, hunter of road kill by night, isn’t the man to take the fall.
Proving his innocence is obvious,
And finding the killer is crucial,

But Ben needs a gun. Ben needs a big mother of a gun with a bucket of bullets, because the seedy streets of Ostere have a new breed of criminal and they aren’t looking to take prisoners.

Opening the Veil - C. L. Clark

When Cassie agrees to go on a date with her gorgeous new neighbor, she doesn’t expect the night to end with a glimpse into eternity. Within twenty-four hours she discovers not only are young women being brutally murdered around her beloved town, but an ancient evil is using her new neighbor like a puppet to do the killing. Knowing the police won’t believe her without solid proof, she makes it her mission to find the evidence they need. Add to that how her cat has started talking to her, plus she’s seeing ghosts that want her help, and it’s no surprise that she’s beginning to question her sanity. Will she be able to help the living and the dead and not end up another victim? She’ll need to learn fast if she wants to survive in one piece.

This is the first book in the New Sight Series - a paranormal mystery series about a young woman whose eyes are opened to the hidden world around her and her compulsion to help the dead seek answers and justice.

A Brighter Light - C. L. Clark

Helping the dead find answers can be dangerous.

Cassie and Allie are back - helping the ghosts of Kensington Falls.

With all of the new changes in Cassie’s life, she has had to rely on the wisdom of Allie, her cat, as well as her own instincts to not only accept the upheaval, but to use her new abilities to help the desperate spirits around her. When Zeb enters her life, he already somehow knows her secret, but he has a secret of his own. With his help Cassie will discover new talents as she is thrown head first into amazing and sometimes frightening situations in order to find closure and justice for those without a voice. Is there more to Zeb than meets the eye? Does it have something to do with the incredibly strong attraction that seems to be growing between them? Like moths to a flame, the ghosts of Kensington Falls are flocking to Cassie for help, but can she give everything she’s got to helping the dead and still keep her own life intact?

Wicked Cries - Michelle Areaux

For 16-year-old Sadie Sanders dealing with the dead is growing tiresome, especially when they expect her to play messengertotheafterlife.

Up until recently, Sadie had been able to juggle her double life without anyone detecting she was not only an average high school student, but a messenger to the dead as well. When Sadie's dad decides to move the family to Salem, Massachusetts, Sadie wondered if the move would be the fresh new start she needed to leave her old, wicked life behindandbecomeanormalhighschoolgirl.

Only Sadie was wrong, dead wrong. Once in Salem, Sadie finds a hidden journal from Elizabeth, a once persecuted witch who documented the last few days of her terrifying life. Desperately wanting to push the journal aside and begin her new life, Sadie finds herself haunted by Elizabeth, but thistimeisdifferent.

Wicked Lies - Michelle Areaux

Sadie Sanders believed her life couldn’t get any worse when her parents moved her from sunny California, to gloomy Salem, Massachusetts. Of course Sadie was wrong–dead wrong. After a dangerous and almost deadly first year in Salem, Sadie’s parents decide to send her away for the summer to visit her Aunt Morgan in the small town of Nicholasville, Kentucky. Seeking normalcy from her twisted life as a messenger for the dead, Sadie hopes her stay in the small Kentucky town will be the break she needs from her paranormal obligations and a way for her to escape the demons that haunt her. Unfortunately for Sadie, the dead don’t take a break, not even for summer vacation. Soon after arriving in Nicholasville, Sadie discovers a murder that’s been haunting the town for centuries. Refusing to ignore the injustice she uncovers, Sadie sets off on another wild adventure. In Wicked Lies, book two of the Wicked Cries series, Sadie's quest for justice just may be the thing that finally ends her career as a messenger to the dead, and her life.

Welcome to Bascomville, the singular domain of Max Bascom, the universe he has spun for himself from the raw materials of his surroundings.

This is Max’s journey from friend to lover.  From seducer to seduced.  From firstborn to prodigal. From betrayer to betrayed. And finally, from child to man.

In 2016, Mark A Calde publishes his fourth original novel, Bascomville, a sprawling romantic family drama about first love and the dark secrets that families keep hidden behind closed doors.

Telling the story from the point of view of young Max Bascom, who eyes his father with contempt and his mother with pity, the novel takes the reader on an insightful, absorbing and compelling journey which shows that despite the turmoil we see in the world today, the biggest wars we fight are usually confined within our own four walls.

Holding a mirror up to all our lives, the story spans ten years and follows Max's relationship with his next-door-neighbor sweetheart Janice, as they navigate their own unique family dynamics, while embarking on their own emotional journey into adulthood.

“Bascomville looks at the responsibility men have in romantic relationships and explores the idea that everyone's world really only exists within their own four walls. Max falls for the girl next door, so her world becomes part of his world,” says Mark. “If you look for test-tube normal in any family situation, you will ultimately be disappointed. No such thing exists. As humans we just have to be adaptable and do the best we can. That's our legacy."

  2. I love Halloween. My children and I begin thinking about costumes long in advance - though I usually end up waiting until the last minute to buy them, since my son often changes his mind time and again and I've found it's easier to put off ordering than it is to put up with a pouty son all evening. My daughter wants to be a dancer this year. We had her dress already purchased, but my husband threw it away (a BRAND NEW contemporary dance costume!!!) while my children and I were gone this summer, so we're having to start from scratch. Since we're on a very limited budget, I'm not amused. My son wants to be a zombie soldier. I'm not certain what I want to be, probably a goddess or a queen. I always long to be in command. :)
