Freebie! Crossing In Time (Between Two Evils Book 1) Free Today

Free Today, Nov. 17, 2016!

by D.L. Orton

This book is usually $7.99 but today it is free! Snag it here on Amazon.

If someone took everything you live for, how far would you go to get it back?

When offered a one-way trip to the past, Iz sacrifices everything for a chance to change her dystopian future—and see her murdered lover one last time.

After a perilous journey through a black hole, she wakes up on a tropical beach, buck naked and mortally wounded—but twenty years younger! With only hours to live, she must convince an enraptured but skeptical twenty-something guy to fix their future relationship and thereby save the planet (no one is quite sure why.)

But it's easier said than done, as success means losing him to a brainy, smart-mouthed bombshell (her younger self), and that's a heartbreaker, save the world or not.

Across the infinite expanse of space and time, love endures...

(Unfortunately, it’s not going to be enough.)

FALL INTO THIS EDGY, action-packed, darkly comedic, dystopian love story, and be prepared to encounter a finicky time machine, a mysterious seashell, and a very clever dog (some sex, some swearing, some violence, but no vampires and absolutely no ditzes.)

Out of Time by Monique Martin (REVIEW)

Out of Time: A Time Travel Mystery

Author: Monique Martin
Category: Romance/Supernatural
Suitable for: 17+
My Rating: 3.5 Stars
Format Read for Review:  Kindle
Pages: 296

Description: A college professor and his aide accidentally travel back in time. Haunted by disturbing nightmares the professor fears for their safety as they wait for their chance to come back home.

In Short: This book has a pretty interesting story. The majority of it is set in the 1920s and it has a suspenseful plot. There is a sweet love story but if you aren't into romances you will find the middle part of the book to be boring and drug out. I thought the title was a little bit misleading because there wasn't a mystery to be solved and very little time traveling.

Pros: The character development in this book is wonderful. The characters are also unique and even though the main characters are opposites they compliment each other well and work together well. This book has a decent love story that will appeal to romance junkies.I thought the narrative was really great. It switched between characters to give you a broader picture of the story and also a better impression of the characters but without being redundant and repeating scenes.

Cons: I thought the middle of this book was very slow and not a lot of exciting stuff happened until the end. This definitely wasn't one of those books that I just can’t put down. Because of all the little hints throughout the book you pretty much know what is going to happen. I thought the story had a lot of potential but I was disappointed by how it all played out. I don’t want to give any spoilers so I’ll just say I thought there could have been more time traveling, action and sleuthing.

10 Shades of Sexy (Short Stories Reviewed)

10 Shades of Sexy

10 Short Stories from a collection of different Romance Novels

Please note the following ratings are for the short stories and not the complete versions of the books. Also these ratings unlike my usual reviews are solely based on my personal feelings and not on their quality. Most of the ones with low ratings are just stories that didn't tickle my fancy and/or I found them boring. The following ratings are out of 5 stars.

His Forbidden Touch by Shelly Thackeri
5 Stars

After the Fire by Kathryn Shay
2.5 Stars

Heaven’s Fire by Patricia Ryan
1.5 Stars

Just Perfect by Julie Orton
3.5 Stars

The Games by Patricia McLinn
3 Stars

Taken by the Cowboy by Julianne MacLean
5 Stars

Lips that Touch Mine by Wendy Lindstrom
5 Stars

Justin: Tales of the Shareem by Allyson James
2.5 Stars

Hidden Crimes by Emma Holly
2.5 Stars

Trust Me by Lori Devoti
2.5 Stars

The best:  His Forbidden Touch – Though I gave a few of the stories 5 star ratings this one was my favorite. From reading this short I imagine that the full length novel could have a great story with an interesting journey. The characters even in the short version are well developed and seem likable.

2nd Place: Taken by the Cowboy – I’m a fan of “time-traveling” historical romances (Like Karen Marie Moning’s Highlander books) which makes this short story a close second. Although you don’t get a whole lot of back story in this short I believe that this book could have a really interesting story. I don’t read many westerns but I would definitely be interested in reading the full length version of this novel. I imagine this book would be full of danger, action and adventure.

Last Place: Heaven’s Fire – The reason I didn't like this story is because it is unrealistic and the female lead’s personality changes too drastically in a short amount of time. In the beginning she seems to be near death and completely traumatized after being assaulted and nearly raped. Then after the doctor visits you find realize her injuries are only minor scratches that will not even leave scars. It’s understandable that she is so shaken up but how she’s goes from near catatonia to instantly banging the male lead is unbelievable.
